Yeah! We got document cameras!!!
Tip #1: Find a place that is easy to access for both you and your students.
I put mine on the file cabinet by my desk.
Tip #2: In your start up menu, you'll see the ipevo or P2V. Click on that and it will open it up. On the left hand side you can make it large screen.
Tip #3: I marked the outside of the base where I want it to stay and then with blue tape marked the area for placing documents. This will help both the student and me to know the approximate location for placement when we use it each time.
Tip #4: There is a setting that can change the horizontal/vertical direction of the document before the camera. I needed to change both horizontal and vertical on mine to get the picture and placement like I wanted it.

Tip #5: What an awesome tool to:
- Read aloud (picture or chapter book) show your finger following along as you read. Especially for the young ones to begin making text recognization. My kids have been fixated the last two days as we listened to an audio book and they followed along with me pointing, and they could all see the pictures!
- Show kids writing, and model writing in a journal.
- All things in print (without having to scan first!)
- Art projects
- Science projects
- Handwriting explanations- what a great way for the kids to see the pencil stokes occurring in action!
- No more I can't sees!!!
- This can also work, for Skype. Think of the "pen-pal" class activities that could be done with this. :)
- From what I gather, it will do still pictures, but not video.
- If you want to write on it, on the smart board- all you do is pick up a pen, write and then screen capture and it will open up a smart board file and then you save it. But, don't forget once you are interacting with the smart board the object under the document camera is "locked". Therefore, the document camera icon on your smart file doesn't work with this document camera.
